Job Description:

 Position Purpose:

To develop in the community a strong awareness of and connection to the organization mission; to diversify and enhance funding for agency operations and programming through donor prospecting, donor cultivation, and fundraising efforts; to coordinate the efforts of all volunteers for the organization.

 Nature of Work:

In this position, the individual must be a strong verbal and written communicator, able to foster relationships with individuals and key organizations in the community such as churches and businesses.  Must be well organized, a self-initiator, and passionate about the mission of the organization - able to tell the story of our mission to key listeners and donors.  Strong interpersonal skills will assist the individual in engaging volunteers and prospective donors.

Functions:

  • Enhance the promotion of the organization and the mission through regular press releases and strategic marketing efforts.
  • Educate area organizations and businesses about the mission, outcomes, and needs of the organization.
  • Develop relationships with area churches for partnerships, sponsorships and donations.
  • Gather data and research new funding sources and potential donors.
  • Manage and facilitate all direct solicitations.
  • Facilitate all fundraising committee efforts and meetings.
  • Be responsible for the coordination, placement, engagement, and recognition of volunteers.
  • Maintain a current database of volunteers, donors, supporting churches and businesses and friends of the organization.
  • Works collaboratively with the organization grant writer to secure new grant resources.

Education Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications plus two years experience in human services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
